ALFRED, N.Y. – A game-high 22 points from
Tyler Cardello '26 would not be enough for the Elmira College men's basketball program as the Soaring Eagles dropped an 82-68 non-league decision on the road against Alfred State on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Soaring Eagles went 12-of-25 from the field in the first half of action along with a 7-for-10 showing at the free-throw line. JJ Babcock '26 paced the Soaring Eagles in the half with nine points as he went 3-of-7 from the field.
- Alfred State would go just 12-of-31 from the field in the opening half but used the benefit of eight 3-pointers to pull even with Elmira at the end of the half. Six different Pioneers connected on at least one made 3-pointer.
- The Pioneers would catch a hot streak in the second half as Alfred State went 17-of-31 from the floor and 7-of-15 from downtown. Dylan Perry led the charge for the Pioneers in the half as he went 5-of-7 and 4-of-6 from 3-point range, while Paris Jamison added 10 points in the half for Alfred State.
- Cardello paced the Purple & Gold in the second half as he went 5-of-10 from the field and 3-of-4 at the free-throw line for 13 points, while Riley Spencer '26 added 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field.
- Elmira would lead by as many as five points early in the second half before a 10-0 run by the Pioneers turned the momentum down the stretch. Alfred State would also record 14 points off of Elmira turnovers in the second half, while the Soaring Eagles notched two points off of four Alfred miscues in the half.
