Purple & Gold Soar Past Keuka on Friday Evening With 65-45 Victory

ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College women's basketball team used a 15-point advantage in the first half on its way to a 20-point victory over the visiting Wolves from Keuka College on Friday evening. The Soaring Eagles, who were able to collect its second-most offensive rebounds in a game this season (17), forced the Wolves into twice as many turnovers (20) than the home squad, leading to a 24-4 advantage in points off turnovers, proving to be the difference in the game.

Desiree Roy '25 notched her 10th double-double of the season after a 17-point, 14-rebound effort, while Olivia Ayres '25 logged her second double-digit performance of the campaign after an 11-point evening. Nevaeh Winston would round out the Elmira scoring leaders after posting 14 points and seven rebounds, while corralling three steals.  

After a 5-5 tie to begin the game, the Soaring Eagles would finish out the first quarter shooting just over 30% (7-of-23), holding the Wolves to just four made field goals in the frame while closing on an 11-6 run. In the second, the Purple & Gold would see an uptick in its shooting percentage, using its largest scoring margin in any quarter (ten points) to help carry a 15-point lead into the break. In the second, EC held Keuka to just a pair of made buckets, and an 18.2% mark for the Wolves. 

The Soaring Eagles were able to shoot 55.6% from the floor out of the halftime break, making ten shots from the floor compared to just five for the visitors. An 11-0 run out of the locker room helped Elmira pad its lead, one that it would hold for 37:20 of game time.
