Why did you choose Elmira College?
I chose Elmira because I wanted to experience life away from home.
What advice would you give to younger Black athletes looking to play sports in college?
Personally, I have learned that there is more to life than just your sport. There is a whole world of people to meet, connections to make, and opportunities to seize. Also, embrace the characteristics that make you YOU. Don't be afraid to be different, there is only one you. Always try to stay positive, stay true to yourself, follow your bliss, & remain grateful!
How have you been influenced or inspired by other black athletes, role models, or leaders in your life?
A lot of black leaders/role models have inspired me. One that has inspired me heavily as of late is Kyrie Irving. Specifically, his spiritual integrity and his persistence in promoting love, positivity, self-awareness, and mental freedom (go look at his Instagram). My father as well has inspired me and is a lot of what I am today. He taught me to be resilient in whatever I chose to do in life, and most importantly to be grateful for all the opportunities and things life gives me. A lot of people have inspiring traits within themselves. You can learn a little something from anyone in life.
What motivates you to be successful, and why?
My biggest motivation is my family/ close friends. Just knowing that they have made sacrifices and support me in whatever I do. Them allowing me to be myself is the greatest thing I can ask for. I love them! <>
