Game One Pitching And Game Two Offense Leads Soaring Eagles To Sweep Of Keuka

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – Despite a change in venue due to recent weather in the area, the Elmira College baseball program recorded a doubleheader sweep of Keuka College on Saturday in an Empire 8 matchup on the campus of Finger Lakes Community College.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Soaring Eagles opened the scoring with a run in the top of the second inning of game one to take an early advantage against the Wolves. Jared Money '22 delivered a double for the Purple & Gold that allowed Kaden Bolt '26 to score and make it 1-0.
 
The 1-0 lead for Elmira would hold until an insurance run scored in the top of the sixth inning as Chris Jones '25 delivered a sacrifice fly to right field that allowed Jourdan Plaisted '21 to score and make it 2-0. Keuka would answer to knot the score with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth as a triple by the Wolves allowed two runners to score and make it 2-2.
 
Elmira would get its offense working again in the top of the seventh as Brett Warden '25 laced a triple that allowed Mason Ryan '22 to score and give the Soaring Eagles a 3-2 advantage. Matteo Salvati '25 provided an insurance run later in the frame with a sacrifice fly that allowed Warden to score to make it 4-2.
 
Jack Finnerty '23 tossed 4.2 scoreless innings despite taking a no-decision for the Soaring Eagles, while David Kruis '23 earned the win after working a clean bottom of the seventh inning.
 
Keuka gained an early lead in game two as the Wolves scored twice in the bottom of the second inning following a single that gave the Wolves a 2-0 advantage. Elmira rallied to knot the score in the fourth inning as Jacob Parker '25 notched an infield single to trim the deficit to 2-1 before Kade Cochran '26 delivered a single that allowed Plaisted to score and make it 2-2.
 
Plaisted would give the Purple & Gold the lead for good with a triple in the top of the fifth inning as Warden scored for Elmira to make it 3-2. It would be Warden who plated two EC runners with a single in the sixth inning to increase the advantage to 5-2. The Wolves would make things interesting with a pair of runs in the seventh inning that trimmed the deficit to 5-4 before Elmira exploded for five runs in the top of the eighth. Parker highlighted the scoring in the eighth for the Soaring Eagles with a triple to right field that allowed two runners to score and made it 9-4.
 
Logan Pizzullo '25 earned the win after tossing 2.2 scoreless innings of relief for the Soaring Eagles and recording five strikeouts. Kyle Tubbs '22 notched his first save of the season after tossing the final three innings of the contest as he yielded a pair of runs off of three hits.
