ALFRED, NY. – Elmira women's soccer left it late on Wednesday evening, finding the winning goal with just under three minutes left in the match on a long-range strike from well outside the box by Tierney Krawczyk '27, powering it through the keeper's hands and into the net for her second goal in as many games. That goal provided one of her three shots on goal, the most by a Soaring Eagle on the night.
JUST THE BASICS:
SCORE: Elmira 1, Alfred State 0
LOCATION: Alfred, NY. | Pioneer Field
TEAM RECORDS: Elmira (2-3-1, 0-0-0 E8), Alfred State (1-2-1, AMCC 0-0-0)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first half passed with both teams trying to find the breakthrough offensively, with each team having two shots on goal.
- Despite seven total shots in the second half by both teams before the goal, neither could find the opener.
- The match-winner came late as Krawczyk collected a throw-in on the left touchline before taking the ball centrally, dribbling past two defenders and getting a shot off from outside the penalty box, powering it through the keeper's outstretched hands.
- That would be enough for the Purple and Gold as they closed out the match and sealed the victory.
Faith Ingber '26 and Ally Stilo '26 both registered one shot on target on three total shots.
- Goalkeeper Nevaeh Winston '25 played the whole match between the posts and registered her second shutout of the season.
