PINE VALLEY, N.Y. – Early offense from the Wilkes University Colonels was too much for the Elmira College field hockey program as the Soaring Eagles dropped an 8-0 decision at home on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Colonels opened the scoring just over three minutes into the contest before doubling their lead with a tally at the 6:21 mark of the first quarter. Wilkes would take a 3-0 lead into the second quarter after adding a late goal at the 12:25 mark.
- Wilkes added three more goals in the second period to increase its lead to 6-0 as Lexie Nevel and Caitlin Keim (x2) both found the back of the net for the Colonels.
- Elmira goalkeeper MeganRae Burke '24 registered 11 saves through the opening 30 minutes of action in the cage for the Soaring Eagles. She would make four more saves in the third quarter before the Soaring Eagles would make a goalkeeper swap.
- First-year goalkeeper Sandra Vaughn '27 would take over in the cage for Elmira at the 39:16 mark of the contest. Vaughn registered her first collegiate save for the Purple & Gold with a stop at the 44:48 mark of the contest.
- Vaughn recorded five more saves for Elmira in the fourth quarter before she was replaced by fellow first-year goalkeeper Reese Bowen '27.
- Bowen registered one save after taking over in the cage for the Soaring Eagles. Vaughn and Bowen each yielded one goal in the second half of the contest for Elmira.
