PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The Elmira College women's volleyball program wrapped up its opening weekend of Empire 8 Conference action on Saturday afternoon as the Soaring Eagles dropped a 3-0 decision on the road against the St. John Fisher University Cardinals.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Elmira knotted the score early in the first set against the Cardinals as a kill from Morgan Richardson '25 made it 4-4. A double block later in the set from Caroline Barr '25 and Maddie Boucher '24 helped to pull the Purple & Gold within a point of the Cardinals.
- A late 6-0 run in the set changed the momentum in favor of the Cardinals as it would give them a 21-14 advantage. Despite a late rally by the Soaring Eagles and seven kills in the set from Richardson, St. John Fisher recorded a 25-18 victory.
- Trailing 15-13 in the second set, the Soaring Eagles used a 4-0 rally to gain a 17-15 advantage and force a timeout by the Cardinals. The run was highlighted by a kill from Makenna Clark '25 and a pair of service aces from Barr.
- The Cardinals would gain the lead back late in the second set and took a 23-19 advantage before Elmira rallied to trim the deficit to 23-22. A kill from Boucher pulled the Soaring Eagles within a point of the Cardinals until St. John Fisher added consecutive points to secure the 25-22 victory.
- Elmira used a 4-0 run midway through the third set to trim a 14-7 deficit to 14-11 following a pair of attacking errors from the Cardinals. St. John Fisher countered with a 5-0 run and would eventually secure a 25-14 victory to complete the 3-0 sweep.
- Richardson paced the Soaring Eagles in the match with 11 kills to go along with eight kills from Clark. Asia Curkendall '25 recorded 21 assists for Elmira, while Clark added 10 digs for the Purple & Gold.
