ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College Men's Basketball team would battle the visiting Cardinals from St. John Fisher University on Saturday afternoon, dropping its 108-95 decision. After trailing 54-39 at the break, the Soaring Eagles have its offense begin to click, as both teams played a high-intensity, fast paced offensive set, as Elmira outscored the Cardinals 56-54 in the second frame.
For the contest, the Soaring Eagles would see three reach 20-plus points, as Riley Spencer '26 (29 points), Tyler Cardello '26 (22 points), and JJ Babcock '26 (20 points) rounded out the Elmira offense.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Cardinals would see a productive first three and a half minutes, where they began the contest on a 12-4 run. From there, Elmira would bring the contest within a pair following back-to-back three pointers from Spencer and Aidan Carnevale '27. Over the next five minutes, St. John Fisher would put together a 23-2 run, which would prove to be the eventual difference in the contest.
- For the first half, the Soaring Eagles shot 13-of-33 from the floor (39.4%), compared to a 22-of-34 effort (64.7%) for the Cardinals. Additionally, the Cardinals led the points off turnover battle in the first half (12-8), while Elmira held a 9-0 advantage in second chance points.
- In the second, the Soaring Eagles would see a quick increase in its offensive tempo, as the Soaring Eagles matched its first half points total in the first 14 minutes of the half.
- In the half, Fisher would shoot 21-of-41 (51.2%) from the floor, compared to an 18-of-33 (54.5%) effort for the Purple & Gold.
- For the final frame, Babcock would finish with eight points, Spencer with 13, and Cardello with 16, including an 8-of-10 finish from the free throw line.
- For the contest, the Cardinals would win the points off turnover battle 25-16, while also outscoring the Elmira bench, 52-18.
