Riley Spencer '26 recorded a game-high 28 points for the Elmira College men's basketball team as the Soaring Eagles dropped their season-opener against the Penn College Wildcats on Friday inside Bardo Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Riley Spencer '26 paced the Elmira offense in the first half as he connected four times from beyond the 3-point arc to go along with a 5-for-7 performance from the floor to tally 15 points.
- Carter Seeberger '26 added seven points in the half on a perfect 3-of-3 effort from the floor, while Davian King '28 recorded five points for the Purple & Gold.
- Elmira shot 50% from 3-point range, going 7-for-14 in the half, while the Wildcats went 17-of-33 from the floor to take a 45-42 lead into the half.
- In the second half, Emmanuel Karkari-Mensah '28 and Spencer each tallied 13 points for the Soaring Eagles. Tyler Cardello '26 and Chris Woodard '28 combined for 14 points for the Purple & Gold as Elmira would go 15-of-44 from the field and 5-of-21 from 3-point range.
- The Wildcats responded in the half by hitting eight of their 13 3-point attempts and 17 shots from the field. Both sides frequented the free-throw line in the half: Elmira went 15-of-21, while Penn College was 14-of-25.
- Spencer finished the game 9-of-18 from the field and 6-of-13 from 3-point range for Elmira, while Karkari-Mensah tallied 15 points. JJ Babcock '26 paced the Purple & Gold with 14 rebounds to go along with seven points.
