HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Matteo Salvati '25 made it 1-0 with a single to center field that allowed Nathan Ofalt '26 to score for the Purple & Gold. Brady Buttice '26 followed with a single of his own to left field that pushed the advantage to 2-0 as Gabe Fellows '25 came around to score.
  • Xander Canfield '26 kept the hot start going in the top of the first inning with a single to center field that plated Salvati to make it 3-0, while Jacob Parker '25 capped the scoring with a single to left field as Buttice scored to make it 4-0.
  • Oneonta answered with a run in the bottom of the frame as the Red Dragons trimmed the deficit to 4-1. The Red Dragons followed with three runs in the bottom of the second inning to knot the score 4-4.
  • A single to left field by the Red Dragons in the bottom of the fifth inning would give them a 5-4 advantage before a sacrifice fly to left field later in the inning would make it 6-4.
  • The Soaring Eagles looked to rally in the top of the seventh inning as two hit-by-pitches along with a walk loaded the bases with two outs. The Red Dragons would get out of the jam with a groundout to second base.
  • Elmira would put the potential tying runs on base in the top of the ninth inning as Brandon Policar '26 opened the frame with a pinch-hit single. Brett Warden '25 followed two batters later with a walk to put runners on the corners.
  • Oneonta escaped the jam in the ninth inning with back-to-back strikeouts to secure the 6-4 victory against the Soaring Eagles.
  • Brennan Goin '26 was left with a no-decision on the mound for Elmira after allowing four runs off six hits through two innings of work. Kevin McGovern '26 took the loss after yielding a pair of runs in the fifth inning, while Logan Pizzullo '25, Matthew Schultz '26, Erik Berkan '27, and Luke Kraft '27 each recorded scoreless outings for the Purple & Gold.
