Ehlenfield Scores for Soaring Eagles in Sunday Matinee against Wilkes

EDWARDSVILLE, PA. – Caitlin Ehlenfield '27 recorded her first goal of the season as the Elmira College field hockey program dropped an 11-1 decision on Sunday against the Wilkes University Colonels in a non-conference matchup.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Colonels tallied four goals in the first quarter of action as Lexi Nevel opened the scoring just over three minutes into the contest. Wilkes added its second goal at the 6:44 mark before tallying a pair of goals later in the quarter.
  • Wilkes added to its lead just over a minute into the second quarter as a goal from Bridget Rosenfield gave the Colonels a 5-0 advantage. The Colonels would add three more goals in the quarter before Elmira recorded its first goal of the contest.
  • The Soaring Eagles would get onto the scoreboard late in the second quarter as Caitlin Ehlenfield '27 found the back of the cage for her first goal of the season and the third of her career for the Purple & Gold.
  • Wilkes slowed its scoring in the second half of the contest as the Colonels added a goal in the third quarter and one in the final frame. Elmira notched a pair of shots on goal in the second half as Jazmine Elliott '25 recorded one with nine minutes left in the third quarter and another early in the fourth quarter.
  • Peyton DeMaio '28 and Jazmine Knox '26 each recorded a defensive save in the contest for the Soaring Eagles, while Elmira goalkeeper Reese Bowen '27 recorded 11 saves.
 
UP NEXT: The Soaring Eagles welcome a new member of the Empire 8 Conference, SUNY Brockport, to Campus Field on Saturday, September 21st. Elmira will honor the Class of 2025 as the Soaring Eagles face the Golden Eagles at 4:30 P.M.
