Men’s Soccer Defeats Russell Sage Behind Two-Goal Effort from Gallina

ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College men's soccer program rallied from a 1-0 deficit to win its second straight Empire 8 Conference match as the Soaring Eagles defeated Russell Sage College 2-1 on Wednesday night at Campus Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Russell Sage tallied the contest's first goal in the 13th minute of action as Sherpa Kunzang found the back of the net for the Gators.
  • The Soaring Eagles would answer in the 23rd minute with a penalty kick opportunity following a penalty inside the box. Pietro Gallina '26 would take the opportunity for the Soaring Eagles and buried his shot right down the middle to knot the score 1-1.
  • Gallina would strike once again for the Purple & Gold in the 28th minute after taking a pass from Alessandro Lancia '26 and depositing his shot past the goalkeeper to make it 2-1.
  • Elmira goalkeeper Juan Carlos Cruz Gandia '27 recorded two important saves in the first half to keep the Soaring Eagles ahead on the scoreboard. At the same time, EC held an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal in the contest.
