Jhoan Chavez '26 netted a pair of first-half goals and goalkeeper
Juan Carlos Cruz Gandia '27 stopped six shots as the Elmira College men's soccer program recorded a 3-0 shutout against Utica University on Saturday at Campus Field. The win for the Soaring Eagles was their third straight against Empire 8 Conference opponents.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Elmira would take advantage of an early corner kick as Jhoan Chavez '26 played the ball into the box from the near corner. The ball would be deflected into the back of the net off the hands of the Utica goalkeeper.
- The Soaring Eagles used another corner kick later in the half to earn a penalty kick after contact was made inside the box. Chavez lined up for the penalty kick in the 17th minute as he beat the Utica keeper to the low-left corner of the net to make it 2-0.
- Konstantinos Triantafillou '27 closed the scoring for the Purple & Gold with a tally in the 71st minute. Acelino Medford '27 played a ball forward from midfield to find a streaking Triantafillou who worked past the Utica defense and found the left corner of the net to make it 3-0.
- Cruz Gandia faced a season-high 16 shots in goal for the Soaring Eagles and finished with six saves to notch his second shutout of the season. Pietro Gallina '26 paced Elmira with three shots on goal and five shots total, while several Soaring Eagles registered at least one shot in the contest.
