MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Held scoreless through the opening 40 minutes of action, the Elmira College women's ice hockey program rallied for three goals in the third period to defeat No. 13 Nazareth 3-1 on Friday at the Mustang Cup and advance to the championship game on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Golden Flyers opened the scoring in the second period as Corsica Skibinski finished a rebound in front of the net following a 2-on-1 breakaway for Nazareth at the 6:35 mark.
- Elmira wouldn't wait long to knot the score 1-1 in the third period as Iliana Smith '27 netted her second goal of the season with a wrister under the cross-bar at the 2:28 mark for the Purple & Gold. Emily Lenzen '24 and Mo McBride '27 added the assists on Smith's equalizer for the Soaring Eagles.
- The Soaring Eagles would take the lead at the 4:07 mark of the third period as McKenzie Schmidt '25 netted her first of two goals in the contest to make it 2-1. McBride added her second helper for EC to set up Schmidt's tally.
- Schmidt added an insurance goal for the Purple & Gold at the 18:11 mark of the third period to make it 3-1 as Sophie Compeau '25 was credited with the lone assist.
- Sara Sevcikova '28 improved to 4-0 on the season for Elmira, recording 18 saves while allowing one goal for the Soaring Eagles. Elmira finished the contest with a 31-19 advantage in shots on goal, along with 36 faceoff wins against the Golden Flyers.
