PINE VALLEY, N.Y. – Highlighted by a three-point showing from
McKenzie Schmidt '25, the Elmira College women's ice hockey program recorded a 4-0 shutout against the William Smith College Herons on Friday at the Murray Athletic Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- A breakaway for McKenzie Schmidt '25 just under four minutes into the second period broke a scoreless contest between the Soaring Eagles and Herons. Schmidt's tally would be assisted by Anna Lugge '27 and Bri Conger '27.
- Elmira added to its lead later in the period as Erika Goleniak '25 finished a rush to the net off a feed from Schmidt to make it 2-0 at the 7:58 mark.
- The Soaring Eagles cashed in on the power play at the 11:32 mark of the second period as Schmidt found the back of the net for the second time to make it 3-0. Emily Lenzen '24 and Sophie Gregory '26 each provided the assists on Schmidt's tally.
- Lugge would provide the lone goal of the third period at the 16:50 mark to give the Purple & Gold a 4-0 advantage. The assist on Lugge's tally would be credited to Iliana Smith '27.
- Sara Sevcikova '28 improved to 7-2-0 between the pipes after recording her third shutout of the season for the Soaring Eagles. Sevcikova finished the contest with 25 saves, while William Smith goalkeeper Erin Murray recorded 37 saves for the Herons.
UP NEXT: The Soaring Eagles will host the Herons on Saturday at 7:00 p.m., and the Class of 2025 will be recognized following the contest.
