HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The Elmira College field hockey team dropped its Empire 8 matchup on Saturday afternoon, falling 8-0 to Houghton University at Burke Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Highlanders struck early, netting two goals within the opening three minutes of play and never looked back. Houghton carried a 2-0 lead after the first quarter before adding four more tallies in the second to take a 6-0 advantage into halftime.
Despite the offensive pressure, goalkeeper Angelina Caban '26 battled in the cage for the Soaring Eagles, recording six saves over the contest. Madison Fleming '27 generated both of Elmira's shots on goal, including one in the second quarter that forced a stop from Houghton's keeper.
The Soaring Eagles registered their lone penalty corner opportunity in the fourth quarter, while the Highlanders finished with a 24-2 edge in total shots and a 10-1 margin in corners.
Houghton's Kylee Barshinger and Davannah Dunn each scored twice, while the Highlanders had six different goal scorers during the contest.
