ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College women's volleyball team opened Saturday afternoon's Empire 8 matchup with a strong first-set victory, but SUNY Brockport rebounded to take the next three sets, earning a 3–1 decision inside Speidel Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Soaring Eagles came out strong in the opening frame, fueled by key swings from Ellora Bynoe '29 and Madalyn Devonshire '29, as Elmira rallied from multiple deficits to secure the 25–23 win. The set featured seven lead changes and 12 ties, as the Purple & Gold matched Brockport point-for-point before closing out the set with a late push.
The Golden Eagles responded with consistent offensive pressure, hitting .409 in the second set and .346 in the third to regain control. The Golden Eagles were led by Madisen Jones, who finished with 15 kills on a .433 hitting percentage, and Ana Parella, who added eight kills and four blocks.
For Elmira, Bynoe and Devonshire each recorded four kills, while Aimee Bridges '29 chipped in three kills and a block. Gabriela Rodriguez '25 paced the defense with a team-high 15 digs and added two service aces, and Alyson Hagberg '25 contributed seven assists and two aces of her own.
