Box Score ALFRED, N.Y. – The Elmira College Soaring Eagles women's volleyball team hit the road on Friday evening to take on the Saxons from Alfred University in another Empire 8 matchup. The Purple & Gold, who will begin a tri-match inside Speidel Gymnasium with another conference match against Houghton at 1:00 PM, would fall to the Saxons in straight-sets to begin the weekend.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- As the teams battled back and forth through the first set, the Saxons, who found themselves ahead 12-10 in the opener, would put together a dominant stretch, eventually scoring 13 of the next 16 points to take the first frame, 25-13.
- In the second, the attack would continue to be dominant for the Saxons, who hit a strong .348% in the frame, accounting for 11 kills compared to Elmira's nine. It would prove to be the closest frame of the evening, with the Saxons improving upon their lead in the match with a 25-23 victory.
- After the second set saw plenty of kills from both sides, the match would shift during the third, as Elmira and Alfred combined for 17 attacking errors, nine and eight respectively as both squads were held below .050 hitting percentages.
- Madalyn Devonshire '29 would lead the way for EC with six kills on 13 attacks, while Gabriella Rustine '26 and Erin Bracken '28 each chipped in three a piece.
