Box Score DUNMORE, Pa. – The Elmira College men's basketball team traveled for a non-conference matchup to face the Lions of Penn State Scranton. The Soaring Eagles picked up an 81-72 in over the Lions behind double-doubles from Kelton Brown and Chris Woodward. This also marks Head Coach Denis Tobin's first win with Elmira College.
 
PLAY-BY-PLAY
A quick start to the contest for the Penn State Scranton Lions saw them jump out to a five-point lead. Two free throws from Daemon Thomas put the Soaring Eagles on the board, and a jumper from Kelton Brown gave Elmira its first lead of the game. In a back-and-forth contest, and an old-fashioned three-point shot from Chris Woodward extended Elmira's lead to four with just under seven minutes left in the half. With five minutes left in the half, the score was even at 25-25. The Soaring Eagles pressed on offense, seeing buckets from Brown and Tyler Cardello to enter the half with a six-point lead. 
 
An Alec Mercer layup ignited the Soaring Eagles second half. A persistent Lions squad scratched their way back to tie the game at 44 apiece. A dunk by Brown put Elmira ahead with twelve minutes to go, and the two sides continued to trade the lead. Three-pointers from Emmanuel Karkari-Mensah and shots in the paint from Cardello propelled the Soaring Eagles on an 11-1 run. Up by ten with five minutes left, Elmira separated grew their lead and closed out the contest with an 81-72 victory.
 
LEADERS
Offensively, Cardello led the way for the Soaring Eagles with 22 points. Brown recorded a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Karkari-Mensah contributed 15 points. Woodward also recorded a double-double, finishing with 13 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Elmira will host Hilbert College on Saturday, November 15 at Speidel Gymnasium to face the Hawks, with a tip-off set for 2:00 PM.
