Men's Ice Hockey Falters Against Cardinals, 2-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Elmira College men's ice hockey team traveled to St. John Fisher for their second matchup of the weekend. The Soaring Eagles jumped on the Cardinals early, but it was not enough as they fell short of the mark 2-1.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Soaring Eagles opened the scoring with their lone goal of the evening midway through the first period of play. Corbin Melie found the stick of Tyler Schwindt to give Elmira the early 1-0 advantage over St. John Fisher. Both teams were evenly matched with Elmira's nine shots on goal and St. John Fisher's ten shots on goal.

With the Cardinals looking for their equalizer, they mustered a goal off the stick of Brendan Merriman during the second period. St. John Fisher's first goal came on a power play opportunity. With the score even at 1-1 both teams were aggressive on the ice, seeing the Cardinals with 15 shots compared to Elmira's 12.

In the final period of play, it only took the Cardinals halfway through to net the game winning goal off the stick of James Evan. The Soaring Eagles mustered everything that had, but were outshot seven to ten and ended up dropping the match 2-1.
