PINE VALLEY, N.Y. – The Elmira College women's ice hockey team hosted Utica at the Murray Athletic Center for their second UCHC series of the season. An early goal from McBride set the pace for the Soaring Eagles, seeing them best the Pioneers 3-1.

Elmira opened the scoring early off the stick of McBride with
Amber Meluzio and
Bri Conger picking up assists. With a 1-0 advantage over the Pioneers, Elmira continued to be aggressive on offense and outshot the Pioneers eight to one.
In the second period, the Soaring Eagles created a larger gap with a goal from
MK Boyle assisted by
Anna Lugge. The Pioneers were relentless and mustered their own goal on a powerplay opportunity at 9:50 to cut the Soaring Eagles lead, 2-1. Elmira continued to press on offense with eleven shots on goal compared to the Pioneers eight.
An evenly contest third period saw the Soaring Eagles record two blocked shots while the Pioneers recorded seven. A defensive battle saw Elmira only put up six shots on goal, but a third goal from
Anna Lugge in a powerplay opportunity secured the 3-1 victory for the Soaring Eagles.
