Elmira Drops Road Contest 3-1 to Red Dragons

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Elmira College women's ice hockey team traveled to SUNY Courtland for a mid-week matchup before Thanksgiving break. A lone goal from Anna Lugge was not enough as the Soaring Eagles fell to the Red Dragons, 3-1.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
In an evenly contested match, the Red Dragons were first to score at 2:06 off the stick of Emma McLean with Gillian Dinsmore and Ramon Gillan picking up the assist. In the first period, both teams were seen recording four shots. The Soaring Eagles had to work hard on defense, recording four blocked shots compared to the Red Dragons three. At the end of the first period, Elmira was seen trailing 1-0.
The second period saw Courtland taking the offensive edge by outshooting Elmira nine to six. Rian Comeau worked hard for the Soaring Eagles, recording a blocked shot on defense. Sara Sevcikova worked hard between the pipes with nine saves alone in the second period. The Soaring Eagles were unable to net the equalizer, sending them into the third period with a 1-0 deficit.
In the final period of play, the Red Dragons got out in front once again with a goal from Katie Diem, assisted by Hayley Hunter and Ainsley Delacourt, at 2:45. With the Soaring Eagles trailing, MK Boyle found the stick of Anna Lugge to cut the deficit to one with ten minutes remaining in the match. Courtland was able to add another goal to their lead in the final two minutes of play, leaving the Soaring Eagles to drop the match 3-1.
