ITHACA, Pa. – The Elmira College men's wrestling team opened its season this weekend at the Ithaca College Invitational.
Donavan Smith '28 led the way for Elmira with a second-place finish in the 174-weight class.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Smith competed in the 174-bout and posted a 3-1 record on the day. He opened the day with a fall in 2:30 against Jake Abramson from Ithaca. Smith followed up with a 20-4 tech fall in match two against Ethan King from Greensboro in the quarterfinals. In the semifinal match, he went head-to-head with Colby Celuck from Castleton and recorded a 15-0 tech fall to advance to the championship match. In a hard-fought battle against No. 8 ranked Konrad Parker from Ithaca, Smith fell just short in an 11-6 decision to garner second place.
- Kaiden Ellis '28 competed in the 149-weight class and posted a 1-2 record on the day. He opened the day with a bye in round one followed by his lone victory on the day, a 20-5 tech fall against Paul Sheehan from Norwich.
- Rhojan Monfort '29 competed in the 184-bout and posted a 1-2 record on the day. Monfort dropped his first match of the day and battled back for his lone victory where he notched a fall at 1:57 against Logan Goncalves from Norwhich.
- Devin Strother '29 competed in the 133-weight class and John Robyck '27 competed in the 285-weight class to represent the Soaring Eagles.
UP NEXT: The Soaring Eagles travel to Scranton, PA on Sunday, November 16 to compete in the Electric City Duals. The duals are set to begin at 10:30 AM.
