ELMIRA, N.Y.- The Elmira College men's basketball team hosted SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry Monday night in a non-conference matchup at Speidel Gymnasium. The Soaring Eagles cruised to a dominant victory, 90-61.

The Soaring Eagles started the game strong on a 11-2 run before ESF cut the deficit to three at the game's first timeout. Tyler Cardello's back-to-back layups and three-pointer put EC up 20-14 at the midway point of the first half. The Soaring Eagles were able to extend their lead on an electric run that was highlighted by a Kelton Brown three-pointer and a two-handed slam. With just over two minutes left, Elmira continued its stellar play as Cardello's layup put them ahead 43-23. A Daemon Thomas layup and strong free throw shooting put the Soaring Eagles ahead by 24 as they went into the half.
Cardello picked up where he left off with EC's first field goal of the second half. The Mighty Oaks responded with eight unanswered points until Brown's finish in the paint and Thomas's three-pointer ended the run. EC continued to dominate in the paint offensively as they built a 75-44 lead with eight minutes left in the contest. Owen Evans fired home a deep three to give the Soaring Eagles a 32-point lead with under four minutes left, and they closed out a strong performance to win 90-61.
LEADERS
Tyler Cardello led the game in scoring with 21 points and 8 rebounds. Kelton Brown chipped in with 18 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists.
