Women's Wrestling Goes Undefeated and Crowned AMCC Dual Champions

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Elmira College women's wrestling team traveled to compete in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Duals hosted by Penn State Altoona. The duals featured six different AMCC teams, seeing Elmira finish in first place to be crowned the AMCC Duals Champions.

SOARING EAGLES OPEN WITH VICTORY OVER HIRAM, 32-15
The Soaring Eagles opened the day with a 32-15 victory over Hiram. Joycedeliz Rodriguez Santiago opened the scoring with a forfeit in the 103-weight class. A. Martins-Garcia followed with an 8-2 decision by using a trio of two-point takedowns in the 117 bout. Megan Edwards quickly used a pair of two-point takedowns to garner a 10-0 tech fall. Kali Bailey and Gabby Bradigan recorded forfeits in their respective weight classes to continue adding to the Soaring Eagles lead. Zoey Lints and Talia Robles pinned their opponents in their respective weight classes to secure the 32-15 win over Hiram. 

ELMIRA DOMINATES THE PIONEERS, 37-10
In their second match of the day, Elmira dominated the Pioneers 37-10. Rodriguez Santiago, Abby Duke, and Edwards opened the scoring with forfeits in their respective bouts. A 10-0 tech fall from Bailey followed by Bradigan notching the fall at 1:28 continued to rack in the points for Elmira. A forfeit for Lints in the 145-weight class was paired with a 10-0 tech fall from Robles and an 11-0 tech fall from Marissa Crofoot, securing the 37-10 win over Alfred State.

PURPLE & GOLD UTILIZE FALLS AGAINST JOHN CARROLL, 28-18
In their third match of the day, the Purple & Gold faced a tough John Carroll crew. Martins-Garcia cut John Carroll's after utilizing a trio of two-point takedowns to mark a 6-4 decision. Edwards followed suit with a 12-0 tech fall while Bailey notched the fall at 3:00 to give the Purple & Gold a 12-9 lead. Lints and Robles pinned their opponents in their respective weight classes followed by a forfeit for Crofoot in the 207-bout, securing the 28-18 win over John Carroll.

SOARING EAGLES STOMP PSU ALTOONA, 38-6
In their fourth match of the day, the Soaring Eagles stomped PSU Altoona 38-6. Rodriguez Santiago opened with a 9-4 decision in the 103-weight class after utilizing a pair of two-point takedowns along with a four-point takedown. Edwards followed with a 13-2 tech fall in the 124 bout after utilizing a four-point takedown and four two-point takedowns. In the 160-weight class, Robles notched the fall at 1:13 against her opponent. Martins-Garcia, Bradigan, Lints, Capen, and Crofoot all recorded falls to secure the 38-6 win over PSU Altoona.

ELMIRA SOARS PAST BUFFALO STATE, 44-6
In their fifth match of the day, Elmira soared past Buffalo State 38-6. In the 117-weight class, Martins-Garcia notched a 17-6 tech fall against her opponent. In the 207-bout, Crofoot recorded the fall in 1:38 against her opponent. Rodriquez Santiago, Edwards, Bailey, Bradigan, Lints, Robles, and Angelina Caban all saw forfeits in their respective weight classes to give Elmira the 44-6 win over Buffalo State.
