ELMIRA, NY – The Elmira College Soaring Eagles ended their regular season by hosting the Utica Pioneers and the NCCC Thunder Wolves on Thursday night for the program's annual senior night. The first matchup came against the Pioneers, a close 33-20 loss for the Soaring Eagles. Following a break, EC again lost, 47-6, putting a close on its regular season campaign.

HOW IT HAPPENED (DUEL ONE):
No contests by EC at 125 lbs. and 133 lbs. spotted the Pioneers 12 points out of the gate. A no contest from Utica at 197 lbs. got the Soaring Eagles six points back.
Selvin Maldonado '25 picked up a win via tech fall in his match, giving EC a 5-0 lead at the start of wrestling.
Victor Hyland '28 dropped his match by a 10-7 decision, bringing the Pioneers within two points, with the score 5-3. Hyland had an early lead in his bout and lasted the full seven minutes.
Hollis Berry '25 induced a fall of Matt Bonato in 2:33, giving the Soaring Eagles an 11-3 edge following the 157 lbs. class. It was Berry's 23rd career pin and his 49th career victory. Berry also is the all-time leader in program history in duel wins with 19.
Patrick Stauring '27 lost by fall in :32 at 165 lbs.
KJ Smith '25 also lost by fall, lasting 1:38, but the Pioneers grabbed a 15-11 lead.
Casey Cooper '25 picked up a huge win by decision, 6-4, in the 184 lbs. class. His win brought EC to within one, trailing 15-14.
Nicholas Lopez '28 lost via fall at the 6:00 mark in the heavyweight class, sealing the 33-20 final score after counting for all the no contests.
HOW IT HAPPENED (DUEL TWO):
Maldonao picked up his second win of the day at 141 lbs. by forfeit, giving the Soaring Eagles their only six points of the match.
Stauring lost via fall again, bringing the score to 6-6. Berry and Cooper also lost by falls in their second matches.
Smith dropped his second match by technical fall. Lopez's fall ended the night for the Soaring Eagles, who forfeited the 125 lbs., 133 lbs., 184 lbs., and 197 lbs. classes. NCCC also forfeit the 197 lbs. class.
