Cardello Reaches 1,000 Career Points in Senior Day Loss

ELMIRA, NY – The Elmira College Soaring Eagles ended their 2024-25 home schedule with a 105-84 loss on senior day on Saturday afternoon. Tyler Cardello '26 scored his 1,000th career point in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
SUNY Poly came out firing, putting up 52 points in the first half while holding Elmira to just 28. The Soaring Eagles struggled to keep pace early, shooting just 32.4% from the field and 20% from three-point range in the opening period.

Elmira found its rhythm in the second half, shooting 60% from the floor and attacking the paint to score 50 points inside. Kelton Brown '28 led the charge, exploding for a team-high 26 points on 12-of-16 shooting, while Chris Woodard '28 added 17 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks.

Cardello provided a spark off the bench with 17 points and eight rebounds. Cardello's first points, a three pointer, were career points 1,000, 1,001, and 1,002. The Scottsdale, AZ native is currently on pace to finish in the top ten in scoring in program history by graduation next spring. Riley Spencer '25 chipped in 12 points, but Elmira was unable to slow down SUNY Poly's high-powered offense, which shot 56.5% from the floor and knocked down 16 three-pointers.
