NEW HAVEN, CT. –
Erika Goleniak '25 was the hero for the Elmira College women's ice hockey team on Friday as her last-minute goal in the third period and game-winner in overtime gave the Soaring Eagles a 3-2 win against the Albertus Magnus College Falcons in an NEHC matchup.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Following a scoreless first period of action between both sides, the Falcons would strike first as they netted a power play goal at the 7:08 mark of the second period to take a 1-0 lead.
- Elmira answered with the equalizer at the 12:38 mark as Emily Lenzen '24 beat the Albertus Magnus goalkeeper to make it 1-1. Iliana Smith '27 provided the assist on Lenzen's fourth goal of the season.
- The Falcons would strike again early in the third period to take a 2-1 lead as Tori Walsh found the back of the net just over two minutes into the frame.
- With less than a minute to play in the third period, Erika Goleniak '25 provided the equalizer for the Purple & Gold with her 13th goal of the season.
- In the overtime frame, Albertus Magnus would get called for a Delay of Game penalty at the 2:49 mark and give Elmira a 4-on-3 advantage. Goleniak would provide the game-winning tally with 1:01 left on the clock as her second goal on the contest secured the 3-2 win for the Soaring Eagles.
- Goleniak's 14th goal of the season and fifth power play tally would be assisted by Anna Lugge '27 and Gabby Dougherty '26.
- Elmira goalkeeper Emily Finach '25 recorded her fourth win of the season for the Soaring Eagles as she finished with 15 saves on 17 shots. Albertus Magnus netminder Christmas Johnson finished with 62 saves on 65 shots.
- Elmira's McKenzie Schmidt '25 played in her 100th career game for the Soaring Eagles as she has 31 goals and 19 assists in her four seasons with the Purple & Gold.
