NEW HAVEN, CT. – The Elmira College women's ice hockey program used a three-goal second period on Saturday to secure a 5-0 shutout against the Albertus Magnus College Falcons as
Gaby Matson '28 netted a pair of goals for the Purple & Gold.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Soaring Eagles would get onto the scoreboard late in the first period as Alayna Toole '26 found the back of the net to make it 1-0 at the 16:38 mark. Erika Goleniak '25 and Anna Lugge '27 both added assists on Toole's 11th goal of the season.
- Elmira wouldn't wait long to push its lead to 2-0 as Lugge beat the goaltender just 42 seconds into the second period off an assist from Goleniak. The goal was Lugge's 11th of the season for the Purple & Gold.
- Gaby Matson '28 increased the advantage for the Soaring Eagles to 3-0 at the 12:14 mark of the second period with her first of two goals in the contest as Emily Lenzen '24 and McKenzie Schmidt '25 would be credited with the assists.
- Goleniak closed the scoring for Elmira in the second period with a tally at the 12:25 mark to make it 4-0 as Lugge recorded her second assist, while Sophie Gregory '26 added a secondary assist.
- It would be Matson who pushed the lead to 5-0 just 49 seconds into the third period with a shorthanded goal for the Soaring Eagles.
- Elmira goalkeeper Sara Sevcikova '28 recorded the win between the pipes for the Soaring Eagles as she finished with nine saves. Albertus Magnus netminder Christmas Johnson finished the contest with 61 saves for the Falcons.
UP NEXT: The Soaring Eagles hit the road again next weekend to close the regular season with a pair of NEHC contests against Vermont State University Castleton. Friday's puck drop between the Soaring Eagles and Spartans is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
