Soaring Eagles Set New Program Record for Consecutive Wins Following Sweep of Sage Tri Match

ALBANY, NY –  With two wins today, the Elmira College Soaring Eagles set a new program record for consecutive wins at 11, beating their previous mark of nine. EC beat both Elms College and Russell Sage College today to move to 11-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED (MATCH ONE):
Luke Jata '27 (12) Dylan Vargas '27 (eight) and Jordan Peiser '24 (five) paced the Soaring Eagles in kills and powered Elmira to victory in four sets. Peiser and Jata each fired off four service aces in the match.

Max Cohen '25 (21) and Nick Rohman '28 (18) finished with double-digit assists in the match. Vargas (two), Jake Suffa '25 (two) and Jata (one) all were credited with blocks in the winning effort against Elms.

Paten Buckwalter '28 finished with a .500 hitting percentage while picking up five kills. Jata's .455 hitting percentage resulted in him tying for the match lead in kills.

HOW IT HAPPENED (MATCH TWO):
Peiser (16), Buckwalter (seven), and Vargas (six) paced the Soaring Eagles in kills in the second match of the day. Peiser's total for the day of 21 marks the fourth time he has reached the 20-kill mark in a day this season.

Vargas blocked three attacks from the Gators, leading the Purple & Gold. Jata fired off another four service aces, bringing his total to eight service aces for the day.

Cohen added another 34 assists in the second contest, bringing his daily total to 55. He now sits at 1,895 for his career, 105 away from 2,000. Cohen currently sits fourth all-time in setups for the Purple & Gold and figures to reach third in the near future.

UP NEXT:
EC will travel to Houghton on Wednesday for a mid-week matchup with the Highlanders. Match play begins at 7:00 p.m.
