ELMIRA, NY – The Elmira College Soaring Eagles put together a dominant fourth-quarter performance to secure a 71-65 victory over Alfred University on Saturday afternoon at Speidel Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Alfred started strong, outscoring Elmira 15-11 in the first quarter. However, the Soaring Eagles responded in the second, using a 20-13 run to take a three-point lead into halftime (31-28). Both teams played evenly in the third quarter, scoring 15 points apiece, setting up a decisive final 10 minutes.
- The Soaring Eagles took control in the fourth quarter, scoring 25 points while limiting Alfred to 22. Clutch free-throw shooting and defensive stops in the final minutes sealed the win for Elmira.
- Laura Bogota '25 paced the Soaring Eagles in the contest with a game-high 21 points as she connected on three 3-pointers to go along with seven field goals. Mia Welty '26 chipped in 10 points for the Purple & Gold, while Taylor Jung '25 finished with eight points and seven rebounds.
- Elmira finished the game shooting 41.7% from the field and 71.4% from the free-throw line, while Alfred controlled the paint with 42 points inside. However, Elmira's ability to execute in the closing minutes proved to be the difference.
