DALLAS, PA - The Elmira College Soaring Eagles traveled to the Keystone State on Saturday for its final tri match of the year, facing off against Misericordia and Arcadia. EC beat Arcadia but were downed by the host.
JUST THE BASICS (MATCH ONE):

HOW IT HAPPENED:
After dropping the opening set 25-14, Elmira bounced back in a hard-fought battle, securing the next three sets (27-25, 27-25, 25-21) to claim the victory over Arcadia.
Jordan Peiser '24 led the Soaring Eagles with a match-high 14 kills, while Luke Jata '27 and Paten Buckwalter '28 each contributed 10 kills. Jata also added two service aces, sharing the team lead with Ethan Davenport '28.
At the net, Dylan Vargas '27 was a dominant force with four blocks, while Jata and Max Cohen '25 chipped in three and two blocks, respectively. Cohen also controlled the offense with 38 assists and led the team defensively with 12 digs.
Elmira finished the match with winning in total points (63.0 to 54.0) and kills (50 to 39), overcoming a slow first set with improved efficiency in the later frames.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Elmira College struggled to find momentum in their second match of the day, falling to Misericordia in straight sets (20-25, 24-26, 10-25).
Peiser once again led the Soaring Eagles with 14 kills, while Jata contributed seven. Buckwalter added five kills and an ace, but Elmira was unable to keep up with Misericordia's efficient attack.
Cohen dished out 24 assists while also leading the team defensively with 10 digs. Connor Barton '27 and Davenport followed closely with seven and six digs, respectively.

The Soaring Eagles will look to bounce back as they return home for their annual senior day celebration on Friday, Mar. 28. The game is slated to begin at 6:00 PM.
