MYRTLE BEACH, SC – The Elmira College Soaring Eagles hit the midway point of their spring break trip down south with a 15-4 loss against University of Mary Washington before getting a 10-6 win over St. Elizabeth University.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME ONE):
UMW jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning thanks to an opposite-field two-run home run from Ty Lowe. Elmira got one back thanks to a solo homer from Connor Stone '26, his first of two in the game.
UMW tacked on a pair more in the top of the fourth, heading into the bottom half of the inning with a 4-1 lead. Stone clubbed another homer, bringing home Matteo Salvati '25 and cutting the lead to 4-3.
UMW wound up scoring two runs in the fifth, four in the sixth, and five in the eighth.
A triple from Brett Warden '25 in the bottom of the eighth followed by an RBI groundout from pinch hitter Michael Currao '28 resulted in the 15-4 final.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME TWO):
The teams traded runs in the first two innings as Salvati picked up an RBI single on an infield hit in the bottom of the first and a bases-loaded walk for Warden forced in a run.
A seven-run fourth inning for the Soaring Eagles was enough offense to get by St. Elizabeth. It began with
Bryan Jimenez '25 scoring on a passed ball and giving Elmira a 3-2 lead.
Xander Canfield '26 cleared the bases with a three-run double down the right field line. Canfield's double made it a 6-2 game. Later in the inning,
Brady Buttice '26 blew the game open with a three-run homer, making it 9-2, Soaring Eagles.
Stone's RBI single in the sixth inning capped off a great day at the plate for the third-year catcher.
SEU picked up a pair in the seventh and runs in the eighth and ninth innings, resulting in the 10-6 final.
Pizzullo went seven strong innings, allowing nine hits and four runs before giving way to
John Yanity 26, who lasted 0.2 innings. Yanity walked two and allowed one run in his outing.
Canfield shut the door, pitching the final 1.1 innings while only allowing a run.
