Cole and Colwill Homer for Soaring Eagles on Saturday

RALEIGH, N.C. – A pair of contests would not go the way of the Elmira College softball program on Saturday as the Soaring Eagles wrapped up their spring break trip at the Walnut Creek Softball Complex in Raleigh, North Carolina. EC fell 12-6 against William Peace in game one and 18-3 in five innings against Muhlenberg in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Kristen Cole would get the Soaring Eagles onto the scoreboard in the top of the fourth inning of game one against William Peace with a three-run home run. The home run was Cole's first collegiate long ball as a member of the Soaring Eagles.
  • Elmira answered with three more runs in the fifth inning to trim the deficit to 7-6 as Jocelyn Jean brought home a run with a single to make it 7-4. Asia Curkendall followed with a single that plated two runs to make it a one-run contest.
  • William Peace quickly added back to its advantage in the bottom of the fifth inning with four runs to go up 11-6.
  • Seven different Soaring Eagles finished the contest with a hit as Jordyn Frantz recorded a double for Elmira. Cole and Ashlyn VanFleet also recorded a stolen base for EC.
  • In the second game of the day against Muhlenberg, Hannah Colwill blasted her first collegiate home run with a solo shot in the bottom of the first inning for the Purple & Gold.
  • Jenna Burns plated two runs for Elmira with a single in the bottom of the fourth inning to score Frantz and Sophia Temple.
  • The Mules would take the victory in five innings after they scored five runs in the first inning and wouldn't look back.
  • In the circle for the Soaring Eagles, Emily Huntley made her debut as she worked one inning, allowing two runs off three hits.


UP NEXT:
The Soaring Eagles will have two weeks off before they host Marywood University in a doubleheader at the Holding Point on Tuesday, March 25.
