SYRACUSE, N.Y. – A seven-run third inning by the SUNY Poly Wildcats plagued the Elmira College Soaring Eagles on Thursday in an Empire 8 Conference matchup as the Wildcats recorded a 10-0 victory in seven innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- SUNY Poly opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning with a single to right field to make it 1-0. The Soaring Eagles and starter Logan Pizzullo would get out of the inning with a strikeout.
- The Wildcats would plate seven runs in the third inning off four hits and one error by the Soaring Eagles.
- Nate Lowry entered out of the bullpen for Elmira to take over on the mound for Pizzullo and would record the final out of the frame to strand the bases loaded.
- SUNY Poly added a run in the fourth and fifth innings to push its lead to 10-0 against the Soaring Eagles.
- Elmira looked to get something going in the fifth inning as the Purple & Gold would load the bases with one out.
- Brady Buttice worked a walk and would be followed by back-to-back singles from Connor Stone and Bryan Jimenez.
- The Wildcats recorded consecutive strikeouts to strand the bases loaded for Elmira in the frame.
- Pizzullo was credited with the loss for Elmira after allowing eight runs off six hits. He added three walks and three strikeouts.
- John Yanity and Kevin McGovern also worked out of the bullpen for the Soaring Eagles, as McGovern faced four batters and recorded a pair of strikeouts.
