MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – A tale of two completely different games played out on Monday in a non-conference matchup between the Elmira College Soaring Eagles and Morrisville State Mustangs. The Soaring Eagles dropped a 2-1 decision in game one as the Mustangs scored twice in the bottom of the eighth inning. Elmira responded with a 10-1 run-rule victory in five innings in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Elmira produced just one hit through the first seven innings of game one against the Mustangs as Kristen Cole delivered a double to right field in the top of the second inning.
- The Soaring Eagles worked through a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the third inning as Hanna Burdick recorded back-to-back strikeouts to keep the game scoreless.
- Elmira would get a runner on base with two outs in the top of the seventh inning, as a pitch hit Jocelyn Jean. She would be stranded following a groundout to second base.
- With a runner placed on second for extra innings, Riley Storrs would give Elmira its first run of the contest with a double to right field in the eighth inning as Erica Bates scored.
- The Mustangs tied the game in the bottom of the frame with a fielder's choice and would walk-off winners following an error by the Soaring Eagles at first base.
- Burdick suffered the loss for Elmira, despite allowing just two unearned runs off seven hits to go along with seven strikeouts through seven innings of work.
- Elmira completely turned things around offensively in game two, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. Sophia Temple made it 1-0 with a double that allowed Ashlyn VanFleet to score.
- Temple started a six-run second inning for the Soaring Eagles with a single to center field to make it 4-1. Jean followed with a double into right field and plated a pair of runs to make it 6-1, as Temple and VanFleet both scored.
- Elmira would also get run-scoring hits in the second inning from Storrs, Rachel Lunger, and Brooke Eastman to increase the advantage to 9-1.
- The Soaring Eagles pushed their lead to 10-1 in the third inning with runners on the corners as VanFleet scored from third following an errant throw from the catcher trying to get Hannah Colwill at second base.
- Allie Mienaltowski recorded her second win of the season in the circle for Elmira after allowing just one run through four innings of work. Shelby Dawe tossed the fifth inning for the Soaring Eagles and worked around one hit to secure the 10-1 victory.
