ELMIRA, N.Y. – Elmira College field hockey and SUNY Morrisville battled back-and-forth to a 1-1 tie in the first half before the Mustangs responded with two second-half goals for a 3-1 victory at Campus Field on Friday night.
Peyton DeMaio '28 recorded her first defensive save on the season.
Nicole Luther '28 scored her first goal on the campaign, while
Madison Fleming '27 recorded her first assist on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first quarter was controlled by SUNY Morrisville outshooting Elmira college 4-2 with six corners. The Mustangs gained the lead in the sixth minute with a goal by Skylar Henebery with Melissa Beaver assisting on the play.
- The Soaring Eagles evened the score nearly six minutes into the second quarter with Luther's first goal of the season. Fleming sent a pass into the middle and Luther was able to slap the shot in to tie the score at 1-1 with 9:24 remaining in the half.
- Both teams remained deadlocked for the remainer of the half with Emmaly Noeller recording one save for the Mustangs.
- SUNY Morrisville outshot the Soaring Eagles 3-1 in the third quarter and just over five minutes into frame Melissa Beaver scored an unassisted goal to put the Mustangs up 2-1.
- Angelina Caban '26 recorded two saves in the third quarter and three in the game.
- The Mustangs iced the game five minutes into the final quarter with Beaver scoring her second goal of the game on an assist from Lilly Bagg to make it 3-1.
