HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Elmira got on the board first nearly six minutes into the first quarter, with a strike from Madison Fleming '27 for her first goal of the season.
  • Cedar Crest evened the score just about two and a half minutes into the second quarter on a strike from Olivia Wanner that was assisted by Taylor Dotter.
  • The Falcons doubled their tally and took a 2-1 lead on a fast break with just over 20 seconds remaining in the first half. Maddie Farace was able to corral a deep pass and send a shot on goal that Angelina Caban '26 saved, but Farace gathered the rebound and fired a second shot into the lower left corner for a goal.
  • Just five minutes into the second half the Soaring Eagles were able to capitalize on a penalty corner with Caitlin Ehlenfield '27 sending in a pass to Fleming who was able to sink her second goal of season and even the score at 2-2.
  • Under a minute later Peyton DeMaio '28 made a sliding defensive save behind Caban for her 19th career defensive save. With that defensive save DeMaio set the Elmira College program record, passing Julia Derco '17.
  • The two teams battled back-and-forth over the remainder of the second half with neither side gaining an edge.
  • The Soaring Eagles finally broke the stalemate just over four minutes into the second overtime when Fleming drew a foul in the crease. Talia Nash '28 stepped up to the penalty spot and sunk it into the lower left corner for a 3-2 Elmira victory.
