ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College women's lacrosse team hosted Utica University inside Campus Field on Wednesday afternoon. The Soaring Eagles dropped the contest to a strong Utica team by a score of 20-1.

Utica was aggressive from the start, outshooting the Soaring Eagles 13-0. Elmira netminder Kaliegh Krueger recorded two saves during the opening period. Utica worked quick, taking a 10-0 lead after the first period. In the second period, EC was able to get their first shot off from
Abby Belcher that Utica was able to block. The Pioneers gained offensive momentum once again and sent both teams into the half with Elmira trailing 14-0.
The Soaring Eagles were able to hold the Pioneers to two goals. Late in the third period, EC was awarded a free position attempt courtesy of a Utica foul.
Sandra Angell netted the lone goal for Elmira off the free-position and in a man-up opportunity. The third period closed with Elmira trailing 16-1. The Pioneers were able to tack on four more goals in the fourth period to see EC fall short, 20-1.

The Soaring Eagles will travel to Hartwick in Oneonta, New York on Wednesday, April 1 for their next contest. Draw control is set for 4:00 PM.
