CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Elmira College women's lacrosse team traveled to Chambersburg, PA. for a matchup with the Phoenix of Wilson College on Saturday afternoon. The Soaring Eagles fought hard, but ultimately dropped the matchup against Wilson, 17-6.

Elmira got the scoring started a minute into the contest,
Alayna Toole beating the keeper while a player up to put EC in front early, 1-0. The Phoenix answered with two goals over the next five minutes to capture the advantage 2-1. Seven seconds after Wilson went ahead, Mandy McCarrrick tallied an unassisted goal to even up the contest six minutes in. Wilson College scored four more goals before the end of the first, moving in front 6-2. Shots on goal in the first period were led by Wilson 6-4. The Phoenix got two more goals to open up the second, extending their advantage to 8-2. The Soaring Eagles went up a player again and
Kelsey Stewart sent a pass over to Toole who beat the goaltender again to get EC some momentum and cut the deficit to 8-3. The Phoenix scored three more times before the conclusion of the first half, taking an 11-3 advantage into halftime. Wilson outshot the Soaring Eagles 11-7 in the opening half.
Seven minutes into the second half, Stewart sent a shot past the goalkeeper for an unassisted marker and the fourth goal of the match for Elmira. Wilson scored three more goals as the third quarter came to a close, putting themselves in front 14-4 at this time. The Phoenix opened the fourth with another tally to go up by 11 goals. A few minutes later, McCarrick got a chance while the Soaring Eagles were down a player and found the back of the net to get Elmira some momentum. McCarrick beat the keeper again five minutes later, this time receiving a pass from
Ciara Armlin while up a player to give Elmira another goal. The Phoenix scored two more times as they closed out the contest, the Soaring Eagles falling in this one 17-6. Shots on goal in the contest were 24-14 Wilson.
LEADERS
Offensively, McCarrick led the way for EC, tallying three goals. Toole picked up two goals while Stewart notched a goal and a assist.
