Chris Smith enters his third season on the Elmira College men's soccer coaching staff as the goalkeeper coach.
In his time with the Soaring Eagles, Smith has mentored one of the top duos in recent years in Austin Mansell '16 and Kevin Huggins '16. Under Smith's tutelage, Mansell graduated after posting the ninth-best single-season goals-against average (1.28) as a senior in 2015, and the seventh-best career GAA at 1.73. Huggins owns the 10th-best career GAA (1.88), while his 11 career wins are tied for eighth-most in team history.
Smith is a 1991 graduate of Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, AR. Prior to transferring to Arkansas State University, Smith played two years of collegiate soccer from 1985 – 1987 at Alfred University.
Smith has been actively involved in coaching for more than 25 years. He has coached and trained developmental through college age players at the recreational, travel, club, interscholastic, premier, and ODP levels.
Smith is currently the Goalkeeping Technical Director for Soaring Capital Soccer Club. Smith holds a NSCAA National Youth Diploma and a NSCAA National Goalkeeping Diploma.
