Robert Fauver enters his fourth season as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Elmira College. He brings with him over 25 years of coaching experience at the high school level.
Most recently, Fauver served as head coach of the men’s varsity program at Athens Area High School from 2011-13, his second head coaching stint at the school. During his term with the men, he compiled a 37-13 overall record, which included two District IV appearances (2012, 2013) and one Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) State Playoff appearance in 2012.
He posted an impeccable record as the head coach of the women’s varsity program during his first term at the school from 1989-2005, amassing an overall record of 309-114. He led the Lady Wildcats to seven PIAA State Playoff appearances and five PIAA Class AAA District IV Championships, including back-to-back titles in 2002 and 2003. He also coached the program to nine Northern Tier League Championships, including a five-year run from 2001-05. His incredible success was duly recognized, as he was a nine-time recipient of the Northern Tier League Coach of the Year. He was elected to the Athens Area High School Hall of Fame for his coaching achievements in 2001.
He has been extremely active in the high school and college camp circuit. He has attended several clinics throughout his illustrious career, including: Moravian College Coaches Clinic (1998-2005; 2008-12), Nike Basketball Clinics (1995; 98-2004; 2012), Duke University/Nike Coaches Clinic (2000), and the Converse NYSCA Coaches Clinic (1991-93).
Fauver also brings over a decade of experience as an administrator at the high school level. He is the active Assistant Principal of Johnson City High School in Johnson City, New York, where he has served in that capacity since 1999. He also served a brief stint as the head coach of the school’s freshman women’s program, totaling a 16-7 overall record from 2008-10. He also served as an Intervention Specialist/Supervisor of Instruction at SCT BOCES Alternative High School in Elmira, New York, from 1994-99.
Fauver graduated from the University of Scranton with a bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement in 1981. He earned a master’s degree in Educational Administration from SUNY Brockport in 1999.
