Sarah Shaw enters her first season as the assistant women’s basketball coach at Elmira College during the 2019-20 academic year.

Shaw comes to Elmira after coaching at Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. In her lone season with the Bears, Shaw helped guide the team to a 14-13 overall record and a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) semifinal appearance. Shaw was heavily involved in the Bears’ practice planning, scouting and ensuring the academic success of student-athletes. Under her watch, the Bears had two MASCAC Player of the Week selections, while seven players earned MASCAC All-Academic honors.

Shaw also spent time on the sidelines with Take Charge Athletics in Foxboro, Massachusetts, and Franklin High School in Franklin, Massachusetts, where she coached girls in grades sixth and up. While in Elmira, Shaw will also be coaching the Elmira Fusion 7th & 8th grade AAU team.

Intimately familiar with the Empire 8 Conference landscape, Shaw graduated from Hartwick College in 2017 after a four-year career with the Hawks’ women’s basketball team. Shaw’s best season came as a senior where she established herself as a key 3-and-D wing for the Hawks. She appeared in all 26 games and paced Hartwick with 26 blocked shots. Shaw wrapped up her final campaign ranked seventh in the E8 in three-pointers made and blocks, en route to a spot on the E8 Sportswoman of the Year Team.

Shaw graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Hartwick. While at Elmira, Shaw will be pursuing a master’s in Management.
