Men’s Hockey Falls to Oswego State 6-2

Oswego, NY – The Elmira College Men's Hockey team fell to Oswego State for the second straight night, this time 6-2 in Oswego. The loss drops the Soaring Eagles to 0-2-0, while the win improves the Lakers to 2-0-0.

Despite outshooting the Lakers in shots on goal early on, the Purple and Gold was unable to make their opportunities count. In the two games this season EC has been outscored 13-5, and they will look to improve on that moving forward. Overall in the game Elmira was outshot 41-32.

Oswego State used two power play goals and three even strength markers to take a 5-0 lead midway through the second period that the Soaring Eagles were unable to overcome. Jesse McConney recorded two of those scores to pace the Lakers. Ian Boots, Tyler Leimbrock, Luke Moodie and Tim Carr tallied the other scores for Oswego State.

Rick Acorn '12 (Barrie, ONT -- Couchiching Terriers) and Wes Consorti '12 (Brantford, ONT -- Niagara University) both cashed in on power play goals for the Purple and Gold, while Darcy Vaillancourt '12 (Bonfield, ONT -- Innisfil Lakers) and Jesper Strale '14 (Uppsala, Sweden -- Springfield Pic's) dished out assists on the score.

Ryan deMelo '15 (Brampton, ONT -- North York Rangers) logged 23:44 in net giving up four goals and making 14 saves, while Matt Milne '14 (Newmarket, ONT -- St. Catharines Falcons) played 36:16, allowing two goals and stopping 21 shots. Andrew Hare stopped 30 shots, while allowing two goals for the Lakers. EC returns to action Nov. 4th when it travels to Utica College for a 7:00 p.m. start.
