Middlebury, VT – The EC Men's Hockey Team lost a tough game tonight against Norwich University in the Primelink Great Northern Shootout title game 2-5. The 10th-ranked Soaring Eagles fall to 5-3 on the season while the top-ranked Cadets improve to 6-0 with the victory.
Elmira took a 1-0 lead just 41 seconds in when
John Clewlow '12 (Brampton, ONT – Dixie Bee Hives) centered a quick pass to
Darcy Vaillancourt '12 (Bonfield, ONT -- Innisfil Lakers) for the goal from the slot. Norwich tied the game on the power play at the 13:05 mark, with Doug Lindensmith finishing from the doorstep after an initial shot was saved.
The Cadets increased their lead to 3-1 with a pair of identical power play goals 1:51 apart. Pier-Olivier Cotnoir scored both with blasts from the point, with the feeds coming from Travis Janke via Kyle Thomas.
Elmira made it a one-goal game with 2:43 left in the period on a breakaway from
Clewlow, his second of the period. The first period ended with Norwich holding an 18-13 shots advantage.
After a scoreless second period, Kyle Thomas gave Norwich a 4-2 lead at the 9:29 mark, scoring on his own rebound. Norwich added an empty-netter with 45 seconds remaining, as Corey Hale scored with a clearing flip from 150 feet away.
Darren McDonald '13 (Stittsville, ONT -- Nepean Raiders) earned 24 stops for the Soaring Eagles, while Parker Carroll made 22 saves in goal for the Cadets. Making the All-Tournament Team were

Darren McDonald '13.
The Soaring Eagles will look to rebound from this loss as they travel to Aston, PA to take on the Neumann University Knights on Friday, December 2nd.
