Elmira, NY -- In rainy conditions the EC Men's Lacrosse team hosted the number 4 nationally ranked Tigers of RIT. Elmira was looking to pick up their first E8 victory of the season while RIT looked to make it 8 straight wins in a row.
In the first quarter RIT jumped to a 6-0 lead as they out-shot the Soaring Eagles 14-to-3. Elmira started the second quarter by scoring their first goal of the game. Kenny Keirstead '11 (Waltham, MA -- Waltham) netted the EC goal while Tyler Campbell '13 (Mississauga, ONT -- Gordon Graydon Memorial) was credited with the assist. RIT would answer with 7 straight goals before Elmira put another one in the net. TJ White '12 (Collegeville, PA -- Methacton) scored Elmira's second goal as he beat the goalie between the legs on a quick pass from Keirstead. The Tigers would score one more before the half ended bringing the score to 14-2.
In the second half RIT would run away with the contest, winning 28-2. Elmira goalie Brady Richards '14 (Cortice, ONT -- The Hill Academy) made 13 saves in net. The Soaring Eagles will look to shake-off today's defeat as they travel to take on the Saxons of Alfred University in an Empire 8 contest on Saturday, April 9th. Game-time is set for 1:00 p.m.
