Women’s Tennis Suffers Heartbreaking Loss to Keuka

Keuka Lake, NY – The EC Women's Tennis team fell in non-conference action Thursday to Keuka College, 5-4, on the road. The win improves the Storm to 3-1 overall, while the loss drops the Soaring Eagles to 5-6 overall.

In doubles action the Soaring Eagles started off strong. Kayla Fitzgerald '15 and Ayaka Yoshino '16 won 8-2 in the second spot, while Micah Moskoff '14 and Megan Boisclair '15 won at third spot 8-3. Keuka's first point came at the first doubles position where they dominated to an 8-0 victory.

In singles play, Keuka was able to control most of the matches and take four out of the six singles. EC was able to get wins at fourth and fifth singles with Moskoff and Boisclair. Amy Schmidt '15 put in a good battle at the first position winning the first set 6-1, but eventually fell in the only three set match of the day. Fitzgerald also put in great efforts at third singles, but had to retire due to injury.  

The Purple and Gold will return to action Friday and Saturday when they travel to Ithaca College to play in the 2012 New York State Women's Tennis Championships. Play is set to start tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.
