Elmira, NY – The Elmira College Women's Volleyball team upended visiting Mount Aloysius 3-1 (25-12, 23-25, 25-19, 25-18) Saturday afternoon in Speidel Gymnasium as it honored its five members of the Class of 2013.

were all recognized prior to the match. The win improves the Soaring Eagles to 12-10 overall, while the loss drops the Mounties to 8-14.
The Purple and Gold got out to a quick 12-6 start in the opening set, extending its lead to 19-10, before closing out the Mounties 25-12 in a well-played first frame. The second set proved to be much different as it was close throughout. Mount Aloysius held an early 8-7 advantage before Elmira responded to regain a 15-12 lead. Rhonda Faunce called time out. The Soaring Eagles responded with three straight points to tie it at 20 apiece. Mount Aloysius showed its resiliency answering with three consecutive points of its own to regain a 23-20 advantage. After a 30 second plus rally Elmira's

finished the point off with a kill followed by back-to-back
Matson smashes to once again retie the set at 23-23. The Mounties responded with two points to take the second set 25-23.
The decisive third set proved to be another battle as both teams were tied at 12. Elmira went on a 5-1 run to take a 17-13 lead, causing Mount Aloysius to call time out. The Purple and Gold continued to battle point after point with a stingy Mounty team to extend its lead to 23-18 and get an important third set win, 25-19.
EC got out to a quick 5-1 start in the fourth set looking to close out the visitors. The Soaring Eagles extended that lead to 18-11 and held on for the 25-18 victory to win in four sets.
Rumsey paced the Soaring Eagles with a phenomenal 24 kills compared to just four errors as she hit .299 and also recorded seven digs.
Matson tallied 14 kills, while
Zavadska played libero registering 14 digs.
Short finished with a double-double dishing out a remarkable 48 assists to go with 10 digs, while
Catherine Miller '14 tallied 13 digs.
Cicia pinpointed four service aces while
Ashley Heiman '16 tied a career high with seven kills.
