Pine Valley, NY – Megan Boisclair '15 was the lone winner on Sunday as the EC Women's Tennis team fell to Stevens Institute of Technology 8-1 at the Murray Athletic Center. This is the first time since 2007 that an EC player has earned a point against the Ducks. The win improves the Ducks to 1-1 overall and 1-1 in Empire 8 action, while the loss drops the Soaring Eagles to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
Playing sixth singles,
Boisclair dominated the first set winning 6-2. She struggled in the second set losing 7-6 (10-8), but was able to regroup late in the third set tiebreaker to win the match 7-6 (13-11). The other notable singles match came at fourth singles when
Stephanie Tock '16 came close to forcing a third set tiebreaker, but could not hang on losing 6-1, 6-4.
In doubles play the Ducks proved to be strong taking all three matches.
Boisclair and
Kayla Fitzgerald '15 fought well at third doubles, but were not able to hold on losing 8-5 in the end.
The Soaring Eagles will return to action Wednesday, September 5
th when they host the 2011 Empire 8 conference champions Ithaca College at the Murray Athletic Center. The match is set to start at 4:00 p.m.
