Elmira, NY – The Elmira College Women's Basketball team was unable to get control in the second half falling, 55-29, to Ithaca College on Tuesday evening at Speidel Gymnasium. The Bombers improve to 13-1 overall and 5-0 in Empire 8 play, while the Soaring Eagles fall to 5-10 overall and 1-4 in conference action.
In the first seven minutes of the opening half Ithaca was able to get up early, but EC fought back well eventually taking a 9-8 lead. However, the Bombers would step up their game and take over the tempo for the rest of the half stretching out their lead to as many as 10 points before coming into the halftime at 28-19.

Kelsey Geisler '15 lead the Soaring Eagles scoring seven points apiece in the half.
Although the Soaring Eagles were able to score some early baskets in the second half the Bombers continued to dominate on the defensive side by causing hard shots and forcing turnovers. Ithaca was able to stretch out their lead and eventually earn the win 55-29 to stay perfect in conference.
Geisler was the leading scorer for EC providing 11 points and shooting 75 percent from the field. The Bombers defense played well and limited
Thannhauser and
Jessica Zoltowski '14 to 13 points combined. However, the two captains were still able to contribute by recording five steals, three assists and 10 rebounds.
The Purple and Gold will return to the court Saturday, January 19th when they travel to Utica College in another Empire 8 showdown. Game will tip-off at 2:00 p.m. at the Harold T. Clark Athletic Center.
